Verbier, Switzerland

With a young, adventurous, ski-mad crowd and an equally boisterous après scene, Verbier is as serious about its skiing as it is about its plush but unshowy hospitality.

LE MOUTON NOIR

Boasting the largest wrap-around terrace in the resort and accordingly claiming the best views of the Petit Combinmountain and the valley beneath it, Le Mouton Noir is a trusty stop-off after an invigorating day of skiing. With a hearty menu replete with all the traditional Swiss mountain favorites as well as more subtle fish dishes and world-famous Brittany crêpes (go for the smoked salmon topping), come afternoon the DJs are in situ and the music is pumping. Wear your PM Nevada down jacket and get ready to let loose.

EXPERIMENTAL CHALET

With understated bedrooms designed by Italian interiors whizz Fabrizio Casiraghi and the most elegant cocktail bar in town, the Experimental Hotel Group’s Verbier outpost gives good holiday, whether you’re here for the fresh powder or the après. Then there’s the beloved The Farm nightclub in the basement where everyone who’s anyone heads after dark. Don’t believe us? David Bowie once dominated the dancefloor here.

AWAY SPA, W HOTEL

With a notably contemporary design that might prove welcome to some after a week of rustic chalet style, the W Hotel’s Away Spa has all the mod-cons one might expect, topped off with a magnificent indoor pool and a heated outdoor pool. With ski-to-door access, we recommend a massage here after an adrenaline-filled day on the slopes.

LE ROUGE

Serious wine drinkers might like to book the private wine cellar to sample restaurant Le Rouge’s grand crus and local gems. Meanwhile more laid-back revelers will be content to take a seat on the sun-frenched La Luge terrace, which is energized by DJs every day from 3pm, making it one of the most popular après spots in Verbier – and the ultimate place to show off your PM Star ski suit.
