Montauk, New York

Escape the city, hit Highway 27A, and head to the low-key stretch of Long Island affectionately known as “The End”, all set to usher in a blissed-out summer of surfing in Montauk.

Ditch Plains

The two-mile stretch of sandy beach that comprises Ditch Plains has become the Hamptons’ not-so-secret surf hub, largely thanks to its ability to offer some of the most consistent waves on Long Island. If you’re going early in the season, the water can be a little crisp, so pack a rash gaurd for more coverage.

The Crow's Nest Inn

With 13 bohemian chic-rooms (think: white clapboard walls and shibori-dyed pillows) and a two-bedroom cottage, this rustic inn on the shores of Lake Montauk offers up a truly chilled break for surfers and sunbathers alike. Borrow bikes and cycle in to town or sample some s'mores by the campfire as night falls.

Roberta's

Bushwick’s beloved pizza joint opened its first Hamptons outpost in 2022. While the ‘Bee Sting’ remains our favourite doughy pie, topped with sweet soppressata, spicy chilli flakes and a drizzle of honey, don’t forget to sample the crispy squid, all washed down with a glass of orange wine. Pair our denim shorts your Salinas Bikini for a casual, elegant look that chimes with the beachfront crowd who’ve rocked up post-cocktails at the Surf Lodge.

The Surf Lodge

This hip hotel/bar/restaurant lures in a nomadic city crowd during the summer months. Responsible for putting Montauk on the music-scene map, Saturday night gigs at the Surf Lodge get booked up quickly (and why wouldn’t they, with Anderson Paak and Snakehips on the billing?) but the midweek vibe is equally cool.
